Our IP Portfolio: China, the EU and Japan

Whether a metal pen is worth its price comes down to three things: the material, the process, and whether the design is yours alone to make. Materials and process are covered across this journal; the third is what intellectual property decides — whether your design can simply be lifted. This page lists the registered rights we hold and, more importantly, how to verify them yourself.

The rights we hold

  • China utility model patent: ZL 2024 2 2179947.5 — "A portable pen holder and pen"; grant publication CN 223045456 U, granted 1 July 2025. Covers the portable structure combining bay and pen.
  • China design patent: ZL 2024 3 0566336.9 — "Pen holder"; grant publication CN 309289289 S, granted 13 May 2025. Protects the bay's form itself.
  • EU Registered Community Designs (RCD): 015074738-0001, 015074738-0002 (pen bay), 015086258-0001 (pen) — covering the EU single market.
  • Japan design registration: no. 1799449 (pen cap), registered 16 May 2025.

These numbers are not decoration — the next section shows how to check them.

Why we file both structure and design

Many assume a design patent is enough. The two protect different things. A design patent protects how it looks: change the colours, shift a bevel line, and a copier may slip past it. A utility model protects how it works: the way bay and pen combine, how the magnetic circuit is arranged — functional structures survive a reskin untouched. Two locks together: a copier must either redesign wholesale (at which point they are not copying you) or infringe (at which point you hold a clear legal handle).

How to verify — no need to take our word

  • Chinese patents: CNIPA's patent search system or Google Patents — enter the number to see legal status and granted text.
  • EU RCD: EUIPO's eSearch — enter the registration number for drawings, holder and renewal status.
  • Japan designs: search the number on J-PlatPat.

We say the same to buyers in correspondence: verify first, then decide — never place an order on the strength of a PDF.

What this means for you

  • If you run OEM or collaborations: a factory with its own patent wall understands and respects design ownership — the design you hand over will not appear in someone else's catalogue three months later.
  • If you distribute: clear rights boundaries on the products you sell keep takedown and infringement risk manageable.
  • If you order corporate gifts: engraving and design are legally unambiguous — no "same-style" circulation undercutting your gifting programme.

IP is not just a lawyer's concern; it is part of sourcing risk control. Send the verification links to your legal or procurement team — five minutes to confirm. That is also why these numbers are printed on our site and agents.md: only numbers published openly can survive being checked.
